Enjoy a historical perspective of music and popular culture illustrated with musical excerpts. Dr. Mook earned a PhD in music history from the University of Pennsylvania. He was awarded the Lisa Waxer Prize from the Society for Ethnomusicology for his research on the history of barbershop quartet singing. Mook is assistant professor at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. His specialties are music history and American and popular music. He also has interests in hip hop culture in Phoenix as well as race and gender in American popular and vernacular music. In conjunction with Rewind Remix Replay: Design, Music & Everyday Experience.
