David Claerbout was born in 1969 in Kortrijk, Belgium. He studied in Antwerp at the Nationaal Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten from 1992 to 1995. Recent exhibitions include The Leading Thread at the Centro de Arte Caja de Burgos (CAB), Spain, In the Eye of the Storm at the Kunstmuseum in St. Gallen, Switzerland, and solo presentations at the Herzlija Museum of Contemporary Art in Jerusalem and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. Claerbout lives and works in Brussels and in Berlin, and is represented by Galerie Micheline Szwajcer in Antwerp.
