Robert
Frank was born in Zurich in 1924. His influential photographs were
published in The Americans (1959) and Lines of My Hand
(1972). In 1994 the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., organized
Robert Frank: Moving Out, which traveled to the Whitney Museum
of American Art in New York, as well as to Zurich, Amsterdam, and Yokohama,
Japan. In 2004 the Tate Modern in London organized the retrospective
Robert Frank: Storylines, which toured Europe. Frank lives and works
in New York and in Nova Scotia, and is represented by the Pace/MacGill
Gallery in New York.
