Walid
Raad was born in Chbanieh, Lebanon, in 1967. He received BFA, MA,
and PhD degrees from the University of Rochester in New York, where
he taught for seven years. He has also been on the faculty of Hampshire
College in Amherst, Massachusetts, and Queens College (CUNY) in New
York, and now teaches at the School of Art at Cooper Union in New York.
Recent exhibitions include We Decided To Let Them Say "We Are
Convinced" Twice (It Was More Convincing This Way) at the Paula
Cooper Gallery in New York and The Atlas Group (1989-2004): A Project
by Walid Raad at the Migros Museum fur Gengenwartskunst in Zurich.
Raad lives and works in Beirut and in New York, where he is represented
by the Paula Cooper Gallery.
