Creativity Circles: Soft-Circuit Embroidery

OCTOBER 30, 6:45 – 8 pm

Artist Becky Stern, (a contributor to the Craft and Make magazine blogs and graduate student in sculpture at ASU), will give an introductory tutorial on using conductive threads. With traditional embroidery techniques and modern electronic components, she will demonstrate how to make a simple soft circuit powered by a watch battery. Fabric swatches will be provided or bring a garment you want to modify. Stern has an unusual background in art, design and technology. Meet in Museum lobby. Materials fee $8 per person. Capacity limited. Pre-registration required. Call 480-874-4641. This session is a hands-on complement to the gallery talk on fiber optics by Rhonda Sheerin from 6 – 6:45 pm.
