Our mission is to provide events that foster creative expression and critical thinking,
and cultivate diversity and awareness of cultural heritage.
SMoCA is pleased to share with you and your students a series of exciting exhibitions featuring socially and culturally relevant art of our time. The visual and performing arts experiences that you'll encounter at SMoCA provide rich opportunities for learning. SMoCA's highly trained docents (museum guides) encourage exploration of the artwork through careful observation, inquiry, discussion and creation.
We realize that today's time pressures and budget reductions often preclude museum field trips. We do offer free Museum tours for school groups, and our docents delight in bringing a series of free slide presentations directly to your classrooms that teach the principles of art and design and styles of art. They range from Art in Children's Literature to Day of the Dead to Native American Art.
The programs provide your students with enriching activities that address the Arizona
Visual Arts Standards and meet your grade-level expectations.
Visits to SMoCA energize students and advance your classroom efforts. We invite you to participate. We look forward to sharing these dynamic offerings with your students.
Hope to see you soon at the Museum. |
