for Prospective Docents

Do you love art? Do you like people? Do you believe in learning? Join SMoCA’s wonderful group of volunteer docents and help bring the energy of new art and new ideas to the public. Visit with current docents over coffee to hear more about the docent training program and the opportunity it provides to meet artists, discuss art and learn about new ideas. Docent classes include art-history lectures as well as gallery discussions, so you will quickly become conversant with contemporary art. Once you are a full-fledged docent, you will interact with Museum visitors of all ages, from pre-schoolers to seniors, and experience the joy of sharing your interests with others.

schools, retirement homes and community groups. Click

A
wonderful art education opportunity!
SMoCA
provides a 28-week training course that will give you a good working knowledge
of art history. In addition, you'll receive an ongoing education of new
exhibitions, participate in orientations by artists and curators, and
attend field trips to museums and artists' studios.
