The eighth project in SMoCA’s “southwestNET” series, this exhibition highlights groundbreaking art using new technologies by Mark Amerika/ Rick Silva/ Nathaniel Wojtalik (Boulder, Colorado); David Birchfeild/ Loren Olsen (Tempe, Arizona); Natalie Jerimeijenko (La Jolla, California); Yves Amu Klein (Scottsdale, Arizona); Lucy Petrovich (Tucson, Arizona) and Tristan Shone (La Jolla, California). On December 17, artist Rick Silva will be at SMoCA for a 24-hour, international “blog jam” using cell-phone technology, with Mark Amerika (in Sydney, Australia) and Nathaniel Wojtalik (in Boulder, Colorado).

Artist Natalie Jeremijenko will discuss her Feral Robotic Dog project along with students from South Mountain High Achool and Arizona State University who participated in the design and modification of the feral dogs.  Paul Rasmussen Director of Policy and Planning for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality will join the discussion and briefly discuss children's health issues as they have been effected by local pollution. Following the discussion the grop will visit speciialy slected sites to release the robotic dogs to test for urban pollutants in the community.

Maps to the sites will be provided following the presentation at SMoCA.
