Heat: Summer SMoCA Nights featured the first local Fashion Design Showcase for the event and was

a high-energy, after-hours summer extravaganza. “Heat” highlighted a runway show with the latest fashions by talented Phoenix-area designers Angela Johnson, Contra Mondo by Susan Di Staulo, Apriba by Allison Baker, Art Matthews, LuLu Belles by Louise Jay, Material by Meredith Elliot, Shelly Cluff, Bill Berry, Casey Pearson, and Galina Mihaleva. Music was provided by DJ Maji , DJ Snail, singer Suont, and Red.

Party-goers were able to sing in one of artist Lee Bul’s futuristic karaoke cars as part of the exhibition “Lee Bul: Live Forever,” which was on view along with “southwestNET: architecture and design,” an exhibition of innovative works by the region’s architects and graphic designers.

“Heat: Summer SMoCA Nights” was sponsored by Eddie Shea Design, Frankie’s Patio Cafe, Java Magazine, kiss at Mickey’s Hangover, La Grande Orange Grocery, Mika, Phoenician Health Group, Phoenix New Times, Urban Hair, Skyy Vodka, Subtle Tones, Swell Pro Audio, and WHERE Phoenix/Scottsdale.
