Join us for the only home tour and expo devoted to helping Phoenicians reshape and riff off the historic Modern lifestyle.

Co-hosted between SMoCA and the Modern Phoenix Neighborhood Network, our event is devoted exclusively to highlighting postwar achitecture, design, landscape and interiors as they inevitably collide with today's lifestlye and needs.

APRIL 5 FREE Expo 11:30 am - 4:30 pm
In SMoCA and the atrium of the adjacent Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts building

The free public Modern Phoenix Expo features specialty products and service-providers; informative speakers on the historic preservation and research of mid-century design from the City of Scottsdale and City of Phoenix; an exhibition of redesigns for mid-century modern homes by students from the Art Institute of Phoenix; a free door-prize drawing sponsored by Modern Phoenix members; and free admission to SMoCA.

Ticketed afternoon sessions include presentations and workshops with experts including Debbie Abele, Historic Preservation Officer for the City of Scottsdale, on “Modern Scottsdale”; Frank Henry of Taliesin West, designer of the “mushroom” Valley National Bank (now Chase Bank) at 44th Street and Camelback; John Jacquemart on “Researching Your Mid-century Modern Home Using Primary Sources”; and Charlie Ray, designer for The Green Room, on “Cacti and Succulents as Living Sculpture.” Also included during this whirl-wind weekend is SMoCA's annual jewelry trunk show inside the museum, for all of the modern mavens who have a hankering for art-to-wear and design retail therapy!
