The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art [SMoCA] presented SPLASH: Summer SMoCA Nights on Thursday, June 23, 2005 from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. A unique and wildly popular fixture of Valley nightlife, SMoCA Nights once again brought together artists, fashion designers, musicians and dancers from throughout Arizona for an energy-charged evening of eclectic, edgy culture and hip entertainment.

Among the highlights of SPLASH were the performances by the electronic band Peachcake, Gamil Zarah Middle Eastern Dance Company and DJ Maji as well as a fashion show organized by the staff of Labelhorde, Arizona’s premiere fashion directory. Six new designers were showcased, including American Badass by J. James Jackson, Christa Hilda by Christa Hastie, Dapzury Valenzuela, Designs by Shannon, Phunk n Fusion by Hector Primero and Brian Tanner (a.k.a. Husband). Also a special encore was created for the eleven designers who had shown at past SMoCA Nights: Omar Call, Sommer Christine, Susan Di Staulo, Jennyvi Dizon, Tiffe Fermaint, Angela Johnson, Brian Linger, Monique Martinez, TeeRoy, Nicole West and Rhonda Zayas.

On view at SMoCA were three new summer exhibitions: Water, Water Everywhere. . ., southwestNET: animation and Looking at the World: photography from the permanent collection.

SPLASH: Summer SMoCA Nights was organized by the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and sponsored by Desert Living, Java, Labelhorde, Orange Table, Phoenician Health Group, Phoenix New Times, Phosphor Photography, Robert Saenz, Swell Pro Audio, Urban Hair and WHERE Phoenix/Scottsdale.
